The ninety hour (six credit hour) course prescribed for applicants for a salesperson's license shall consist of:
30 clock hours - Real Estate Principles and Practice
20 clock hours - Real Estate Law
20 clock hours - Real Estate Finance
20 clock hours - Real Estate Appraisal
The additional ninety hour (six credit hour) course prescribed for applicants for a broker's license shall also consist of the same hours in each subject area but shall consist of more in-depth coverage in each subject area.
West Virginia Real Estate Salesperson License
To receive your Virginia real estate license you must be 18 years of age or older and have completed 90 hours of state approved courses as well as pass the state exam. You must also have a high school diploma or GED.
Broker License
To get your brokers license you must also be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or GED. Also you must complete 90 hours. If not already licensed you will need to complete 180 hours. You need to have 2 full years of experience as a salesperson as well as provide proof of listings for those 2 years. The state exam is given 6 times per year. Effective July 1, 2004 you must complete 16 hours every 2 years. See state for details on courses. West Virginia has reciprocity with 12 other states.
