Ohio Real Estate License
You need to be 18 years of age or older to be a licensed agent. You must have your high school diploma or GED and have successfully passed 120 hours of approved coursework. Every salesperson needs to complete 30 hours of approved continuing education courses every 3 years.
Broker License
If licensed between January 2, 1972 but prior to January 3, 1984, the applicant needs to successfully complete 120 hours of specific courses. If licensed after January 3, 1984 but prior to August 1, 2001, the applicant needs to successfully complete 240 hours of specific classroom courses and the minimum of two years of college. You will need to be fully licensed as a real estate salesperson for at least 2 years. All applicants must have completed 20 real estate transactions. The examination fees are $49 for the salesperson and $69 for brokers applicants.
Three-Year-Renewal: Real Estate Broker and Salesperson licenses in effect on January 1, 2006 shall be renewed for one, two or three years in order to coordinate subsequent renewals with the licensee's continuing education requirement. The 2006 Combined Renewal Application with Education Compliance Form has the continuing education form attached. If your C.E. is not due this year, complete the renewal application section only. C.E. may only be submitted within 60 days before the C.E. Due Date.
