In order to enter the field of nursing you will need a minimum of an associate’s degree in this field of study. Within this degree program you can expect to be required to completed classroom based instruction and clinical work that will take place in a real world healthcare environment. It is important to note that all of the instruction that you receive will be directly related to preparing you for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). Within an associate’s degree program you can expect to be required to complete classes like nutrition, psychology, microbiology, foundations of nursing, and math for nursing.

A bachelor’s degree program will consist of courses such as: pediatric nursing, nursing leadership, health assessments for adults, surgical nursing, and psychiatric nursing. Should you decide to pursue a graduate level degree in nursing you can expect similar coursework on a more advanced scale; you may also have the opportunity to choose an area of concentration.
