Louisiana Real Estate License Requirements

Louisiana Real Estate Broker License
To obtain your broker license you must have been actively licensed as a real estate salesperson for at least two years in any state/jurisdiction. You must have obtained a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED). You can provide proof of mandatory errors and omissions insurance prior to issuance of license. You can show proof of successful completion of one hundred fifty (150) classroom hours or its equivalent in courses specified and approved by the LREC and you comply with all application procedures required by the LREC along with passing the state exam.

Real Estate Salesperson License
If you are wanting to be a Louisiana salesperson you need to be at least 18 years of age, have obtained a high school diploma or equivalency certificate. You also need to show proof of successful completion of ninety (90) hours of real estate education in courses approved by the LREC and comply with all application procedures required by the LREC. Finally you have to pass the real estate salesperson licensing examination and be sponsored by a licensed real estate broker and provide proof of errors and omissions insurance prior to license issuance.

All brokers and salespersons are required to complete 30 hours of post license training during your first 12 months of licensing. You must complete 8 hours of continuing education training from approved schools. The licensing fees are $120 for the broker license and $45 for the salesperson license. Renewals are $35 for salesperson and $70 for broker.

RECIPROCAL STATES:  Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.
