Minnesota Real Estate Salesperson License
The term of a Salesperson license is two years, expiring on June 30. Application forms are available by clicking on the links at right. A Salesperson must be licensed to act on behalf of a licensed Minnesota Broker. The license of each Salesperson shall be mailed to and remain in the possession of the licensed Minnesota Broker with whom the Salesperson is affiliated until the Salesperson ends affiliation with the Broker.
If walked into the Department, a temporary license may be requested for an application that meets all requirements for a license and which does not require additional background investigation. Temporary licenses must be delivered to the Broker. However, a temporary license may be delivered to the applicant rather than to the Broker if accompanied by a valid Broker Authorization letter, which must meet the following criteria:
The letter must be on the Broker's letterhead and must be signed by the Broker who signed the application. The letter must be signed and dated as of the date the application is walked-in to the Dept.
The following must be submitted for a Salesperson license:
- Completed license application.
- $100 Salesperson License fee. No cash. Check or money order payable to MN Dept of Commerce.
- Attach Course Completion Certificates for pre-licensing Course 1, Course 2 and Course 3. Applicant must have passed Course 1 prior to taking the salesperson examination. Course 2 and Course 3 may be completed before or after taking the examination.
- Attach original passing results for the 2-part written salesperson examination (National and Minnesota State Laws). 5. The Salesperson applicant must be affiliated with a licensed Minnesota Broker (Corporate Broker, or Partnership Broker, or Individual Proprietor Broker), and the Broker must sign the Salesperson application. The Salesperson must remain affiliated with a licensed Minnesota Broker to maintain an active license. To renew your license you need to complete 30 hours of state approved courses every 2 years.
